Bisphenol A is found in many canned foods, eating canned soup boosts BPA sevel

Bisphenol A (BPA) Contaminating Our Food

BPA levels soar after lunching on canned soupPeople who ate a serving of canned soup every day for five days had BPA levels of 20.8 micrograms per liter of urine, whereas people who instead ate fresh soup had levels of 1.1 micrograms per liter, according to the study. BPA is found in many canned foods — it is a byproduct of the chemicals used to prevent corrosion. ”

Every Drug has Side Effects, there is great Concern about the “Time-Bomb Effects” of certain Drugs

Every drug has side effects” … Every drug has side effects. Even aspirin irritates he stomach in many people and causes a variety of unpleasant symptoms in others. … There is great concern bout the “time-bomb effects” of certain drugs, in particular, the suppressants – those which suppress the symptoms of disease – but also, those that tend to accumulate in the body over a period of time, when the body cannot rid itself of a toxic substance which continually irritates the tissue where it has settled, a tumor or cancerous growth may develop…
…Major time-bomb drug: Diethylstilbestrol

Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals, a Global Threat…

Where is the Precautionary Principle?

Hormones Out of Whack: The Global Threat From Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals” …The summary of the joint World Health Organization-UN Environment Program (WHO-UNEP) report notes that there are about 800 chemicals known or suspected to be such hormone-altering, “endocrine-disrupting chemicals” (EDCs). Like the vast majority of chemicals in current use, most known or suspected EDCs have never been tested for impacts on our health… …Scientific data [about lead poisoning] were present many years before the policies were changed and the chemical was banned. During that time, children’s health continued to be harmed. So the question is, when are there sufficient data to act? Perhaps the answer is in making more use of the precautionary principle to ban or restrict chemicals in order to reduce exposure early, even when there are significant but incomplete data and before there is significant and long-lasting harm… ”

Bisphenol A explained on Video…

What is BPA and where is it used?

Bisphenol A – or BPA for short – is one of the more contentious chemicals on the block at the moment. Companies making BPA, and the products that contain it, claim that the substance is safe if used sensibly. But others aren’t so sure. RiskBites will be delving more into the science behind BPA risks in later episodes. But before getting into the risks and benefits, it makes sense to talk about what the stuff actually is, and where it is used.

Direct Connection between Maternal Diet and Breast Cancer Risk for Female Children Generations

Breast cancer risk depends on what granny ate

Breast cancer risk depends on what granny ateResearch published in the journal Nature Communications on September 11, 2012, and reviewed at the Eureka Alert web site, is the first to make a direct connection between maternal diet and the risk of developing breast cancer in successive generations of female children. ”

Maternal exposures to environmental factors during pregnancy influence the risk of many chronic adult-onset diseases in the offspring. Here we investigate whether feeding pregnant rats a high-fat (HF)- or ethinyl-oestradiol (EE2)-supplemented diet affects carcinogen-induced mammary cancer risk in daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. We show that mammary tumourigenesis is higher in daughters and granddaughters of HF rat dams and in daughters and great-granddaughters of EE2 rat dams. Outcross experiments suggest that the increase in mammary cancer risk is transmitted to HF granddaughters equally through the female or male germ lines, but it is only transmitted to EE2 granddaughters through the female germ line. The effects of maternal EE2 exposure on offspring’s mammary cancer risk are associated with changes in the DNA methylation machinery and methylation patterns in mammary tissue of all three EE2 generations. We conclude that dietary and oestrogenic exposures in pregnancy increase breast cancer risk in multiple generations of offspring, possibly through epigenetic means.
