Could women with fertility problems have a higher risk of cancer and premature death ?

Infertility Linked to Higher Risk of Death Among Women

Scientists have previously linked infertility in men to a heightened risk of premature death. Now, a new study also has a similar association among women.

According to researchers, women with fertility problems have a 10% increased risk of dying earlier than their counterparts – as well as a 20% increased risk of cancer-fertelated mortality, 44% increased risk of dying of breast cancer, 70% increased risk of dying of diabetes…

“Is it infertility itself or an underlying condition that predisposes an individual to infertility that drives these increased risks?”

asks study lead author Natalie Stentz, MD, a fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
