January Full Moon

Full Moon names have been used by many cultures to describe the full moon throughout the year.

The full moon that appears in January was sometimes referred to as the Old Moon or the Moon After Yule.

It was usually called the Wolf Moon : during January the wolf packs howled hungrily outside of native American villages in the cold and deep snows.

The Full Blood Moon

The full moon that appears in October is usually called the Hunters Moon, so named as the preferred month to hunt summer-fattened deer and fox unable to hide in now bare fields. Particularly bright and long in the sky, giving hunters the opportunity to stalk prey at night, the full moon is also referred to as the full blood moon for obvious reasons. Probably because of the threat of winter looming close, October’s full moon is generally accorded with special honor, historically serving as an important feast day in both Western Europe and among many Native American tribes. Other names for this full moon include the Sanguine MoonTravel Moon and the Dying Grass Moon.

The Full Corn Moon

September’s Corn Moon refers to the time of year after the autumn equinox when crops were gathered by Native Americans. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice are the chief Native American staples that were ready for gathering. September’s most familiar moon name however is harvest moon, referring to this full moon’s particularly bright appearance and early rise, which lets farmers continue harvesting into the night.

Empire Avenue Missions extending reach for Social Causes

A post by G. Gazin, aka @gadgetgreg on @troymedia

Social media ‘missions’ extend reach for social causes

… And that is where Empire Avenue, a social media platform, came in… … They found that missions could increase transactions, tweets, re-tweets, likes, and comments etc., across social platforms which in turn could help them achieve better ranking in keyword and search results and across other platforms. Furthermore, the mission exercise could not only help their cause, but also help them learn more and be better at social media
